What is Periodontal Care?

Periodontal care focuses on the health of your gums and the structures that support your teeth. When plaque and bacteria build up beneath the gumline, it can lead to inflammation, bleeding, and eventually bone loss if left untreated. At our Newton practice, we use digital imaging, saliva testing, and laser therapy to diagnose and treat periodontal disease early—before it becomes a bigger problem. Whether you need a deep cleaning, gum graft, or long-term maintenance, our in-house periodontist, Dr. Govostes, provides personalized care backed by years of experience.

Types of periodontal treatment offered

In-House Periodontist

Receive specialized care from Dr. John Govostes, a board-certified periodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

Advanced Diagnostics

We use 3D imaging and chairside saliva testing to detect hidden infections and create more effective treatment plans.

Laser-Assisted Treatment

Minimize discomfort and recovery time with soft-tissue laser technology designed for precise, minimally invasive care.

Our family has been going to Dr. Ted since he began his practice and, simply put, he and his associates are the best! I have referred him to several people over the years and I have never gotten any feedback other than the most positive reviews. The office can address any and all types of dentistry needed, so it's one stop shopping. In addition to being thorough, gentle and on time, they have the latest technology which speaks volumes. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone!

Not always. Many cases can be managed with deep cleanings and maintenance. If surgery is needed, our in-house periodontist will walk you through every detail.
